The Pyramid Alehouse on K Street in Downtown Sacramento abruptly closed its doors today, one day after the conclusion of Beer Week and without advance notice to its employees, according to reports. On the very same day, the Pyramid Alehouse in Seattle was closed to the public for an employee appreciation party, according to the Pyramid Seattle Facebook page.
KCRA reports that the Sacramento Pyramid had nearly 80 employees.
The K Street location had been open for ten years, and participated in the highly popular Beer Week festivities without signs of a problem. On what would be the last night of regular operations, the brewery held a tasting class to teach would-be beer aficionados how to describe and detect different flavors and types of brew.
Reaction to the sudden closing of the alehouse was visible through many Facebook posts. The social media account manager for the Sacramento Pyramid shared the following on Monday morning:
Trust us, this is just as much of a shock to our employees as it is to you all. We are devastated by this news.
