Sacramento ranks as the best city for dogs in California

As a parent to two very spoiled dogs, I must agree with the results of this latest nationwide survey.

According to menhealth.com, Sacramento get a “C+” grade as a “Dog-Friendly City”, coming in 34th place out of 100. While that ranking leaves much to be desired, it is also the highest ranking for any major city in California.

The “scientific” data is the result of the per capita numbers of dog parks, dog-friendly apartments, veterinarians, animal shelters, and pet stores and services, along with the percentage of dog owners. Also factored in are state laws against animal cruelty, dog fighting, and puppy mills.

Also making the list for California dog friendly cities, Bakersfield (#42), San Francisco (#50), San Diego (#62), Riverside (#70), Fresno (#78), Stockton (#80), Oakland (#86), Anaheim (#98), and L.A. (#100).

Portland, Oregon came in at #1. Check out the list for yourself here.
