Just over six months ago, two young men who each possess their own rich experience with other local coffee establishments, opened an operation of their own in Sacramento’s Southside Park neighborhood. Since then, Benza Lance and Lucky Rodrigues’ Insight Coffee Roasters has been warmly received by the community it serves as well as visitors to the Central City. It’s been a long road to this point in their lives, one that neither of them could have predicted but both seem born to achieve.
Full disclosure; I frequent Insight quite often, and have since their January opening. They’ve kept this blogger coming back with their inviting café, friendly staff, and of course, awesome java. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve run into old friends at Insight, or have made new connections with like-minded individuals. This is not a unique phenomenon to Insight, but I swear the chances of either of those things happening increase ten-fold whenever I’m in there.
I recently sat down with Lance and Rodrigues on a Tuesday afternoon after a long day of bean roasting to talk about their experiences so far and plans for the future. Enjoy!
Insight Coffee Roasters is at 1901 8th Street and is open from 7 am to 8 pm everyday.
