Sacramento job market continues to suck

If you’re out of work in Sacramento and feel like it’s been hard to find a job, the numbers overwhelming support your suspicions. Since 2008, over 75,000 private-sector positions have evaporated in Sacramento. That represents an 11.82 percent drop in the amount of overall available jobs in the region.

Particularly hard hit have been the local retail, financial, industrial, and leisure & hospitality sectors. Over 6,000 industrial and retail jobs have disappeared, and the industry and leisure sectors have also lost about 11,000 positions each.

According to the Sacramento Business Journal, there are about 25,000 online postings for Sacramento-based jobs. That’s more than there were this time last year, but less than there was last month.
