Now is the perfect time to start building a Downtown baseball stadium, right???

Since everything is going gangbusters with the currently proposed Downtown basketball arena, a new group has formed to start promoting the NEXT professional sports team stadium. According to the site sacramentobaseball.biz, “Sacramento has the ability to support a Major League Baseball Team. The city has a rich baseball history and with recent success’s Sacramento is poised to be a MAJOR LEAGUE CITY !!!!!”

To their credit, the team behind this new plan seems to understand the importance of avoiding the use of public resources to build the stadium. Instead, this team wants 3,500 public and private investors to buy season ticket packages for 30 years in advance, and pay that amount off not unlike a traditional home mortgage.

A good seat package would run about $290,000, nosebleeds would be about $115,000. That’s per seat, by the way.

So, what do you think? Is Sacramento ready to jump into another sports arena Downtown? Strike while the iron is hot, so to say?
