Right before New Year’s, ranSACkedmedia shared the tale of a stolen “Eggvan”; the sticker-covered Toyota Previa owned by local punk-artist Paul Imagine. The mini-van is somewhat of a living legend in it’s own right, and has a reputation that is only exceeded by the acclaim of Imagine’s rock concert posters. The article quickly became the most popular story we’re ever produced, and over 5,000 people viewed and/or shared it in under 24 hours. The best part of the whole incident was that we were able to also publish the happy ending to the story after Imagine was reunited with his wheels the very same day.
Today, Imagine announced on his Facebook page that he’s created a special sticker to commemorate the theft of the Eggvan, and its safe return home. “You can steal the Eggvan, but you can’t steal it’s spirit!!!” was the motto which Imagine first coined shortly after he got his mini-van back, so it’s only fitting that it becomes the slogan for the sticker-about-the-van-covered-in-stickers.
There’s another reason behind the limited-edition graphic as well; Imagine is still hurting financially from the crime and needs to replace some of the valuable items that were stolen from inside the mini-van. And for only $2.50, it’s a cheap and easy way to show your support for a local Sacramento artist. To have a sticker mailed right to your front door send a PayPal payment to insurgentarts@hotmail.com and be sure to include your address, and your sticker preference in the notes potion of the payment.
Imagine asked to give a shot-out to Andy at dieselfuelprints.com for all for his help in getting the stickers made.
