Progress made on two major Sacramento crime cases

Local law enforcement agencies made significant progress this week on two major cases that both shocked and angered the community in Sacramento.

The murder investigation of Sean Aquitania, Sr. and his 7-month-old baby son Sean Aquitania, Jr. in 2007 had seemed to have gone cold until the arrest this week of Donald Ortez-Lucero in Oakland. Investigators believe that Ortez-Lucero may have been the getaway driver in the robbery that Aquitania inadvertently interrupted. He is being charged with two counts of murder.

Yesterday a second man who investigators believe was involved with the actual robbery and murder of Aquitania was arrested less than a mile away from the Sacramento Police Department Main Station. According to a Sheriff’s press release, 33-year-old Richard Noguera lived with Ortez-Lucero at the time of the murder, and after speaking with several people both in and out of California, they came up with enough evidence to arrest him.

Court records show that in 2009, Noguera was sentenced to a year in jail for in a domestic violence case. He will be arraigned on Tuesday.

Also this week, police were able to quickly arrest one of the two featured suspects in a brutal attack that became an online viral-video. Rasaan Zawadi, the man one major news outlet called the “worlds worst human being”, was identified in part thanks to tips from the community and charged with assault with a gang enhancement.

Officials have also identified the second suspect in the video and are asking the community again for their help in capturing him. He is 19-year-old Donnell Wade, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. If you see him and can help police with his capture, you could be eligible for a $1,000 reward.
