DUI Checkpoint set for Friday night in Citrus Heights

Citrus Heights Police will be on the lookout for impaired drivers this Friday night on Madison Ave, just east of San Juan Avenue. Officials picked this area because of its history of alcohol-involved crashes.

The checkpoint will run for over eight hours, beginning at 7 p.m. and going into the late night hours when people are typically coming home from a night out. Those who elect to not get a designated driver or call a cab can expect to face a sobriety test and could land themselves in jail. It’s a terrible way to start the weekend.

Last year Citrus Heights PD arrested people during a three month DUI saturation patrol period, officers made 29 DUI arrests and towed 60 cars during 42 operations. They’re not playing around, folks.

We over here at ranSACkedmedia.com are constantly amused by the frequent web search terms that direct visitors back to our site that have one variation or another of “DUI checkpoint”. Trying to outsmart the police in this fashion may help you avoid getting a ticket, but you’re still taking your life into your own hands when you choose to drive while drunk. Even worse, you’re endangering everyone else on the road that you come across, and trust me it’s just not worth it.

Plan ahead, get home safe, live to see another day. Oh, and don’t ask your unlicensed kid to drive you to the liquor store because you’re wasted. That’s not what they mean in the beer commercials when they say “Drink responsibly.”

If you have a friend or a loved one who has been caught driving under the influence of alcohol one too many times, you need to sign that person up for alcoholic rehab programs to show that you really care.
